I don’t have a massively long post as an answer to this Daily Prompt. Although we have travelled quite a bit, I think the furthest we travelled must have been moving from Pretoria, South Africa to Alberta, Canada. During Covid…

We applied for Permanent Residency before Covid hit and although the pandemic did put a strain on a lot of plans and paperwork, everything worked out in December of 2021. There was a new variant of Covid that started in South Africa. So Canada banned people from there to enter the country directly.

So here’s how we ended up in Alberta, Canada. We had to quarantine in Mexico. So a 12hr flight from Johannesburg to Frankfurt, Germany. After a 4hr layover we flew 13 hours to Mexico. After the quarantine we flew 4hrs from Mexico to Toronto, Canada. From Toronto we flew 3hrs to Winnipeg. And after a while and getting the dogs in Winnipeg we drove 1300km’s (13hrs of driving) with our dogs to Edmonton.

And here we are… At Home!

Luckily now since there’s no more pandemic issues, travelling back to South Africa for holidays is only a 28hr flight one way. Which doesn’t sound as bad anymore.
